One-Liners
Quick one-liner jokes that pack a full setup and punchline into a single sentence.
A one-liner is a complete joke in one sentence. The first half sets up an expectation and the second half knocks it over, with no characters, no back-and-forth and no story to follow. Because there is so little room, every word has to earn its place.
The form is a staple of stand-up comedy. Rodney Dangerfield built an act out of rapid one-liners about getting no respect, and Steven Wright became famous for strange, deadpan single sentences delivered one after another. Comedians love the format because it is efficient: if one line misses, the next one is only a few seconds away.
One-liners are also the easiest jokes to reuse. They fit in a caption, a toast, a slide in a presentation or a quick reply in a group chat. The one-liners below are original and clean. If you want one about a particular subject, choose One-Liners in the generator and type a topic or the start of a sentence.

How to write one-liners
How do I fit a whole joke into one sentence?
Split the sentence into a setup half and a twist half, often joined by a comma, a colon or a word like “but” or “which.” In “I bought a treadmill to get fit, and it’s now the most expensive coat rack I’ve ever owned,” everything before the comma is ordinary and everything after it flips the meaning.
What is the secret to a good one-liner twist?
Lead the listener toward the obvious ending, then pick the second most likely ending instead. After “the only thing I exercise regularly is,” people expect a sport; “caution” is close enough to make sense and far enough to surprise.
How do I cut a one-liner down?
Read it aloud and remove any word that does not set up or deliver the twist. “I think I might have bought a book on procrastination” becomes “I bought a book on procrastination,” which is faster and leaves more room for the punchline.
Can I write one-liners about myself?
Yes, and self-deprecating one-liners are some of the safest and most relatable. Poking fun at your own cooking, parking or memory, as in “I’m an excellent driver right up until someone is watching me park,” lets the audience laugh with you without anyone else being the target.
